Etihad Airways will launch a new service to Barcelona

Etihad Airways has announced the introduction of a new regular service between Abu Dhabi and Barcelona, starting November 21, 2018. The route will initially be operated five times a week by a two-class Airbus A330-200 before becoming a daily operation on 31 March 2019.

Barcelona will become the second city in Spain served by Etihad Airways, complementing the airline’s current daily service to the capital, Madrid. The new link will provide business and leisure travellers with convenient timetables for travel between Abu Dhabi and Barcelona, as well as providing seamless connections through Abu Dhabi to major cities in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Korea and Australia.

Peter Baumgartner, Managing Director of Etihad Airways, said: “As one of the largest unserved markets in our Abu Dhabi base, Barcelona – a centre of culture, commerce, tourism, education, fashion and science – has witnessed a significant increase in demand for emirate travel, and for our entire network.

“We are delighted to announce the first direct link between these two major global centres. We are confident that it will be very popular with the UAE and customers in Barcelona, allowing us to extend our acclaimed flight service, hospitality and style to this vibrant Mediterranean city, and build on the flourishing cultural and commercial ties between the UAE and Spain.

The new service will be launched in time for the start of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix Etihad Airways 2018, the largest sporting event in the Middle East, to be held from 23-25 November at the 5.55-kilometre-long Yas Marina circuit in the capital.

Etihad Airways has an extensive code-share partnership with Air Europa (UX) on the Spanish airline’s scheduled services from Madrid to Barcelona and 18 other major European cities.

Solidarity concert in the Palau de la Música

Yesterday, June 19, VIPPA-BCN had the pleasure of attending the solidarity concert that took place in the Palau de la Música. The entire amount collected was used for the social work of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. The concert was also a tribute to Pere Raventós by his daughter Mª Rosa. Mr. Pere Raventós lived by and for music and the day he died, played throughout the day saying goodbye to life and his passion.

It was an exciting event that began with Aranjuez mon amour by pianist Manel Barea and ended with New york, New york sung by Lloll Bertran and Miguel Arrué and performed by the Banda Simfònica de Badalona. During the first part of the show, several members of the band performed “solos” accompanied on many occasions with a piano that made our hair stand on end. To name but a few; Jordi Casas with his clarinet played “Medley Cinema Paradiso and City of Starts”, Eva Fortes and her flute playing J.S Bach or Susana Marco and her trumpet playing Puccini’s Nessun dorma. But for us, the most special moment was the pieces La Bohème, Parole parole and My way performed by three pianos at the same time! Manel Barea, Francesc Aragón and Mª Rosa Raventós.

The Badalona Symphony Orchestra, in the second act, was incredible, with the Catalan Suite in which they performed, among others, the cant dels ocells, Rosó o els segadors and the song “per un petó” sung by Celdoni Fonoll.

Three exciting hours with music as the main element and backstage solidarity and collaboration with the children of the Sant Joan de Déu hospital. We appreciate initiatives like this that VIPPA-BCN will always join. It always is a pleasure for the ears and soul.

Presentation of the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalonia

VIPPA-BCN today had the pleasure of attending the presentation of the next Moto GP award to be held next weekend (June 15-17) at the Circuit de Catalunya.

The event took place today, June 13, 2018, at the Miramar Hotel in Barcelona at 11:00 am.

The event was opened by the President of the Circuit de Catalunya, who asked to all to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the 14 year-old Andreas Pérez, death last weekend. We at VIPPA-BCN are sorry for the loss and would like to send our condolences to his family.

For this edition, the circuit has a new layout so the options to surprise are greater and competitiveness is assured. Safety has also been improved by asphalting some stretches. And beyond the track we will find an authentic festival for all audiences with proposals to enjoy the facilities. Tribute to Angel Nieto and Luis Salom, the Monster Party, photocall, surfing machine simulators, custom-made podiums, Monster World Championship pilots to sign autographs, electronic music DJ’s, batucades, castellers, the Family Village, visit to the pit-lane and access for fans to experience the celebration first hand, among many other things.

Participants of Moto GP, Moto 2 and 3 have come to the event and, between anecdotes, they have told us how they face the competition. All of them have agreed on the same thing: “We’ll go out to win and if we don’t win we’ll score points to climb positions. But the main idea is to win. They told us about their new team-mates and they all agreed again that “the stronger and better your team-mate is, the more it helps you to overcome and improve” and although Marc Márquez had asked for a strong signing, now he thinks that maybe he didn’t expect so much, Jorge Lorenzo will accompany him.

We were also joined by the newly released and excited father and uncle, Aleix and Pol Espargaró, who have also made their debut with twins. And Alex Marquez, whose exhibition has not lost any detail of his brother with his mobile phone. By the way, Marc Marquez, when asked if he was willing to follow in the footsteps of his colleague Aleix, replied with laughter: “It seems that I’m going the other way”.

Are you going to miss it? There’s still time to get your ticket. There is something for every taste and size. From family packs to tickets with special prices for young people.

Lack of time, a new poverty

You do not have to fall into poverty because you have us, VIPPA-BCN. We make sure that “time thieves” don’t steal it so you can enjoy it.

“The thieves of time” is the name of Cosima Dannoritzer’s latest documentary, which was presented this week at DOCSBARCELONA.

SYNOPSIS: There is a new resource that everyone wants… Forget about water, oil and rare minerals: it is our time. An investigation that shows us how time has become a bargaining chip and how we can claim control of this precious but finite resource.
