Yesterday, June 19, VIPPA-BCN had the pleasure of attending the solidarity concert that took place in the Palau de la Música. The entire amount collected was used for the social work of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu. The concert was also a tribute to Pere Raventós by his daughter Mª Rosa. Mr. Pere Raventós lived by and for music and the day he died, played throughout the day saying goodbye to life and his passion.
It was an exciting event that began with Aranjuez mon amour by pianist Manel Barea and ended with New york, New york sung by Lloll Bertran and Miguel Arrué and performed by the Banda Simfònica de Badalona. During the first part of the show, several members of the band performed “solos” accompanied on many occasions with a piano that made our hair stand on end. To name but a few; Jordi Casas with his clarinet played “Medley Cinema Paradiso and City of Starts”, Eva Fortes and her flute playing J.S Bach or Susana Marco and her trumpet playing Puccini’s Nessun dorma. But for us, the most special moment was the pieces La Bohème, Parole parole and My way performed by three pianos at the same time! Manel Barea, Francesc Aragón and Mª Rosa Raventós.
The Badalona Symphony Orchestra, in the second act, was incredible, with the Catalan Suite in which they performed, among others, the cant dels ocells, Rosó o els segadors and the song “per un petó” sung by Celdoni Fonoll.
Three exciting hours with music as the main element and backstage solidarity and collaboration with the children of the Sant Joan de Déu hospital. We appreciate initiatives like this that VIPPA-BCN will always join. It always is a pleasure for the ears and soul.
